"As we may think" Vannevar Bush

This article concreted a good amount of ideas i have bestold in my mind. The idea of how scientists have lost control of their former practices due to man's new capabilties of a technology driven world. No physics needed for me as man becomes more and more less fearful of anything escape for the role that the few gifted physicists are able to play. The role of designing weapons for a nation (sattelites included).
When Bush starts to talk deeply about camera processes, I begin to wonder where he was going with this but then the explanation was around the corner. How man is creating this web of documentation of one's life. I notice this everyday that man has a need to document all works and publish them for all. We all have story but please listen to mine more then the other. Everyone wants to outlive their current life but this will bring complications to that current life...

"Presumably man's spirit should be elevated if he can better review his shady past and analyze more completely and objectively his present problems. He has built a civilization so complex that he needs to mechanize his records more fully if he is to push his experiment to its logical conclusion and not merely become bogged down part way there by overtaxing his limited memory. morph man

            A person born or forcefully develops twelve fingers for a purpose to create something new with our vast population/technology boom. In the early renaissance music was simple as human life was as well. Nothing digital coursed through their veins just simple two-string loot and other soft mellowed instruments. By around the early twentieth century humans began to incorporate all types of sounds into music as the industrial age hit our lives with such force. This combination has led our hearing sense into this incredible electronic music era we are part of in this early twentieth century. Based on new sounds, warp channels, filters, recordings, heavy bass, process on layers, musical experimentation, etc… music has now become so vast and handheld that everyone can do it and become a composer by downloading a software program, “Virtual DJ.”

            I ask what is next? We need a new sound for a new generation. By adding one phalanges to each hand a musician will be able to play like not other before their time. Hitting chords and sounds that were not physically able to before this twelve-fingered person came along. This musician will play all instruments in such a radical way with being able to turn three channels on a mixer at once, play two beat pads, play a harp like not one’s business, the possibilities this person can advance will create a new era. An era of genetically modified humans for arts.

            If I had this anomaly I would create instruments that only I could play properly. Such as a piano with lower/higher notes with a quarter note embedded between the half note. I would create a beat mixer that would be specific for my skills. If all had these twelve-fingers the norm for a guitar would be a seven-string guitar. Advancement with evolution and our culture of wanting new only one can imagine more provocatively/productively.

            If this person was born with this feature they will be alone and strong but one must wonder if he or she would play music or use their difference in a new profound way?

          Looking into this woman's work i am intrigued with this dis-figuration of removing the arms in certain pieces, such as Alexandros of Antioch with his work "Venus de Milo," 100 BC. Najafi's work is very involved from this over the hundreds of years art that took place between theses artist's. her work is very graphic and visually stunning. a form of using a loose brushstroke with watercolor works.

          The viewer depicts the figure because of a close relationship to the human figure but done in her artistic fashion. this painting intrigued me because of the woman's archetype of laying as if Venus has in many paintings before her.

            On my way to a place with the blackest walls not meant to showcase art, a place where rebellion is praised upon, a hidden place in the cold dark streets of torn apart and ignored San Francisco, where the brave walk through grotesque visual life to see something meant for the streets; The White Walls Gallery.

            Walking with a sea of people where there is no feeling of great fear as I am protected by a fortress. With the type of weather only found in dreams in the coldest month of the year. San Francisco, a place where things can seem to become a little backwards at times. With no worry from any harm, I pay the man his handout of my two tokens to another place in time. Sitting down to enjoy the show on a warm hard plastic memory before my time. Everyone starring into giving so much pleasure to get them away from the idea where they’re on their way to be. Boxes create our spaces as tension begins to rise in that tomb meant to shuttle bodies.

            Exiting the cold veins of this city with so much life on a day where we all can look into that visually pleasing color of the soft blue sky so far away. As I brought back from the dream of the sky from a tug on my shoulder from a lost sole or component is asking for their handout from me as well.

            With no green anywhere to be seen that is a free as we should be I pass by the Gallery and Studio of Minnori Yato “City of Green.” I look into her eyes as we remember together with so much difference of age and time. As history tends to repeat itself time and time again with our past’s beginning to align with a world that forces a curve to all where an idea of time becomes flat again.

As the blue begins fade outside of this small beautiful energy of art I found myself in, I have to tell her that I must leave and continue on this day.

            The streets begin to cool as my destination appears in sight. I rush to door to escape my created sadness for those approaching me. Opening the gated door of The White Walls Gallery that gave a feeling that it is trying to keep the street from flooding in but could be meant to keep the street from pouring out. With all of it’s rebellion still in tact as the walls become white again. The floors are covered in drips of assorted paints that create a perfume that can only attract art enthusiasts. Feeling warm again from walking out of such a hellish environment not meant for anywhere and forced upon the streets into a place of my heavens not meant for any family that welcomes the streets.
           Now just hit re-wind and I will be home safe with this memory locked in time.

1/27 after re-learning from an old video

My classmates and I watched the The History of Computers Part 1, and I believe we all have been thinking the same idea that we are becoming more and more integrated. Computers can serve many great feats without nature having to depict their barriers, but keep something meant for so much life documented and accounted for in a prison without walls. 

What I took back from the video and classroom discussion all resulted in one main point that it took a human to create this program to make another into a machine. I was astonished on how Singapore is able to turn into an actual strong functioning grid, from their quick overpowering new change for their country and their control over their citizens causing a force to survive. These jobs are not any craft it is something that needs a special skill that all be can given overtime.

Computer literacy is one of our natural selection processes, but when the computer malfunctions will it be user or creator fault? As i-phones, blackberries, and our social love we create grids for all. Creation of hotspots to where to eat, where the best shopping is in town, self directing gps, and warnings for a virus infecting the system, but don’t worry the police will be there soon to eradicated the situation.

Movies that I think of while watching this movie

            Gattica, 2001 Space Oddessey, and tron because these are films based on ideas of making grid with circuits living in harmony to all achieve a great goal, but do not break the rules or pay the price.
